Overview
The 2008 13-Year-Old Babe Ruth World Series will be held in Jamestown, New York from August 16-23. This is the 14th total World Series hosted in the city of Jamestown. The city hosted the first ever 13-Year-Old Babe Ruth World Series in 1980 and also hosted its second year in 1981. Since then, Jamestown has hosted this age group for its 10th, 20th and 25th year anniversary's in 1990, 2000, and 2005 respectively. All 25 games of the tournament will be held at Russell E. Diethrick, Jr. Park, home of the Single A Jamestown Jammers of the minor league NY-Penn league. In 1997 the stadium was re-named in honor of Diethrick, a long-time supporter of local baseball and currently the Host President of the BRWS Committee.
Championship Format
Each of the 10 teams in the World Series will play four round-robin style games over the first five days of play. Teams will be split into two divisions, National and American. Each team will play the other four teams in their division. A tie in standings will be broken by head-to-head records then fewest total runs allowed. After pool play the top three teams in each division will advance to a single elimination bracket, with the top seed in each division receiving byes.
