Middle Atlantic Cruises Past Midwest Plains 11-5

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – Joseph Morel went 4-for-4 and earned the victory on the mound in leading Middle Atlantic (College Point, N.Y.) over Midwest Plains (Sikeston, Mo.) 11-2 in pool play at the 13-Year-Old Babe Ruth World Series on Saturday afternoon at Diethrick Park.

The Middle Atlantic team started off the scoring in the top of the first on a two-run triple by Adrian Castano before plating two more runs in the frame. Middle Atlantic matched that four-run total in the fourth, which was highlighted by a two-run single by Val Bayron.

Morel paced Middle Atlantic by going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three stolen bases. Morel also earned the victory on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings and striking out five batters. Morel’s four hits in one game ties a World Series record for most hits in a game.

Castano and Bayron each hit 3 RBI for Middle Atlantic.

Josh King hit a three-run homer for Midwest Plains and Tyler Anderson went 3-for-3 with a triple and a RBI.  

The Middle Atlantic Champions will next play against the Host Team on Monday night at 8 p.m. and the Midwest Plains team will play the Host Team next as well on on Sunday night at 8 p.m.
