Ohio Valley Beats North Syracuse 12-10

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Ohio Valley Regional Champions defeated (2-0) beat the Western New York State Champions (0-2) 12-10 in a National Division pool play contest at Diethrick Park in Jamestown on Sunday evening.

Ohio Valley (Youngstown, Ohio) jumped out to an 8-0 run in the first inning, capitalizing on three doubles and three errors committed by Western New York. The Ohio squad put 13 batters to the plate in the frame.

Robert Vargo, Jacob Froats, Vic Kuchmaner and Nick Andrews had two hits apiece for Ohio. Froats also pitched three innings on the mound, giving up one run and striking out four to earn the victory.

Tyler Bliss paced the Western New York Champions by going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored.

The teams combined for 22 runs on 20 hits but also committed 7 errors.

The Ohio Valley team will next play the Pacific Northwest team at noon on Monday and Western New York will play New England at 5:30 p.m.on Monday.
