Midwest Plains Outlast Pacific Southwest 7-5

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Midwest Plains (2-1) beat Pacific Southwest (1-1) 7-5 in an American Division pool play contest at Diethrick Park in Jamestown on Monday afternoon.

In a tied 4-4 game in the sixth inning, Josh King gave the Midwest Plains the lead with a right field RBI-single, scoring Tyler Anderson. Midwest Plains plated two more runs in the inning when Andrew Harper knocked in a pair to push the lead to 7-4.

Midwest Plains was trailing by two in the fifth inning when Cord Sheehy tied the game with a two-run single.

Pacific Southwest had the early lead in the third when Midwest Plains got on board with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

King and Sheehy each went 2-for-4 and Andrew Harper also had two RBI for the Midwest Plains.

Ben McKendall, Javier Tamayo and Michael Pagan each had two hits for the Pacific Southwest with McKendall crushing both a double and a triple.

Midwest Plains will next play Southeast at noon on Tuesday and the Pacific Southwest will return to action against the Middle Atlantic team on Tuesday night at 8 p.m.
