New England Wins on Walk-Off Hit in Seventh Inning

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – Sam Fraser hit a walk off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead New England (1-1) over Western New York (0-3) 4-3 in a National Division pool play contest at Diethrick Park in Jamestown on Monday evening.

With the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Dylan Callahan reached on a fielder’s choice and then stole second. Fraser then came up to plate and doubled to right field to score Callahan and give New England its first win of the World Series.

Jonny Mills earned the win for New England, coming to the hill in the top of the seventh to shut down Western New York before Fraser’s heroics in the bottom of the frame. Mills also had two hits at the plate.

Christian Berger pitched six innings for New England, spreading out eight hits, walking none and giving up two earned runs.

Brett Charbonneau went 2-for-3 for Western New York and also played a flawless second base, making a couple of great plays in the field.

New England will return to action against the Southwest team on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. and Western New York will next play the Pacific Northwest at 5:30 on Tuesday.
