Middle Atlantic Beats the Host Team 11-1

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Middle Atlantic team (2-0) defeated the Host Team (0-3) 11-1 in an American Division pool play contest at Diethrick Park in Jamestown on Monday evening.

The Middle Atlantic squad from College Point (Queens) led 10-0 after the first three innings and was paced by Joseph Morel, who was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. In the second inning Morel hit a line drive single into left field and then capitalized on a misplay by the fielder and came all the way around to score.

Adrian Castano had two hits and three RBI for College Point and teammate Tito Ovalle went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Matt Perez was the winning pitcher for Middle Atlantic, pitching six innings, giving up one earned run, walking one and striking out five. Perez also doubled at the plate.

Bram Johnson went 2-for-3 with a double for the Host Team. 

Middle Atlantic will return to action against on Tuesday at 8 p.m. against the Pacific Southwest and the Host Team will next play the Pacific Southwest as well on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
