Middle Atlantic Suffers First Loss of Series
Southeast explodes for 10-run inning

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Southeast (2-2) gave Middle Atlantic (3-1) their first loss, 13-7 in an American Division pool play game at the 13-Year-Old Babe Ruth World Series in Jamestown, N.Y. on Wednesday evening.

Middle Atlantic had already locked up the number one seed for the American Division prior to the game. They will receive a bye and play in the second semifinal game on Friday night at 8 p.m. The Southeast’s tournament fate rests on the Host Team beating Westchester, California on Wednesday night. If the Host Team wins, Southeast will receive the number three seed in the American Division and return to action at 8 p.m. on Thursday night.

The Southeast used a 10-run fifth inning to knock out the Middle Atlantic squad. In the inning they put 15 batters to the plate, rapped seven hits and also put four players on base via base on balls and two via hit batsmen. Thomas Conlin had two doubles in the inning and teammate Stephen Becker had a single and a triple to lead the charge.

Conlin finished the day at 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored while also pitching 2.2 innings of relief, giving up only one run and scattering two hits. Becker was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs.

Joseph Morel paced Middle Atlantic, belting a two-run homer and having a 2-for-3 night.
