Pacific Southwest Beats Host Team 14-2

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Pacific Southwest (2-2) advanced in the Babe Ruth World Series with a 14-2 win over the Host Team (0-4) in the final pool play game at the 13-Year-Old Babe Ruth World Series in Jamestown, N.Y. on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Pacific Southwest has advanced to the six-team single elimination bracket. As the number three seed from the American Division they will face the number two seed from the National Division (Thurston County, Wash.) in a quarterfinal game on Thursday night at 8 p.m.

The Pacific Southwest finished tied with Southeast with 2-2 records from pool play but advance via the head-to-head tiebreaker. Pacific Southwest defeated the Southeast 8-7 on Sunday.

Skylar Blocker put in one of the top offensive performances of the World Series for the Pacific Southwest by going 4-for-5 with two doubles, six RBI and three runs scored.

Eric Gronhagan earned the win for the Pacific Southwest by pitching six innings of two hit ball with no earned runs allowed and three hits and one walk. At the plate Gronhagan was 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored. Teammate Michael Brown was 4-for-4 with four RBI.

The Pacific Southwest squad belted a World Series-high 17 hits in the game.
