California Moves On to Semifinals

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Pacific Southwest (Westchester, Calif.) defeated the Pacific Northwest (Thurston, County, Wash.) 8-3 in a quarterfinal game of the 13-Year-Old Babe Ruth World Series at Diethrick Park in Jamestown, N.Y. on Thursday night.

California advances to a semifinal game on Friday night at 8 p.m. against College Point, New York of the Middle Atlantic Region. This will be a rematch of Tuesday night’s thriller, when Middle Atlantic came from behind to take the lead in the seventh inning and come out victorious 7-6.

Michael Pagan pitched a complete game in the win over Washington, earning the win on the mound. Pagan scattered six hits, striking out three and allowing no earned runs. He also had a 2-for-4 night at the plate with a RBI.

Ben McKendall and Chris Gutierrez had two hits a piece for California. Gutierrez hit a key two-run double in the top of the seventh to give California some breathing room.

Cameron Frost pitched three innings of relief, striking out six for Washington and was also 2-for-3 at the dish.
