The Elks Club 339 East Fourth Street Jamestown, NY |
The BPOE - #263 ELKS Club
in Jamestown has hosted the Managers and Coaches Breakfast
for all thirteen Jamestown Babe Ruth World Series. This fraternal
organization has been an excellent friend to the Jamestown Babe Ruth World Series Committee. The breakfast is always
held on the Friday morning following arrival day. The time for
the breakfast is 8:00 a.m. At this time, the National Task Force
has an opportunity to meet and reinforce tournament logistics
with all team managers and coaches, umpires and the local Stadium
Division including the Press Box Crew. After the breakfast a
caravan is formed to mobilize eastward on Second Street to Diethrick
Park. At this time the ground rules are discussed, along with
responsibilities and protocol of managers and coaches throughout
the World Series. The local committee continues to be appreciative
of the ongoing efforts of our ELKS Club neighbors.

The Eastside Fellowship Club |
Upon Jamestown announcing that it would host their first World
Series in 1980, a local club and neighbor to Diethrick Park (where
all ball games are played) volunteered to feed the participating
World Series teams upon their arrival in Jamestown. The
Eastside Fellowship Club has continued this ‘tradition’
for all of our 13 World Series. This group of individuals
raise all of the money themselves that is needed to feed all
players, Hostesses and Host Families in a picnic style meal and
to ‘Welcome’ them to Jamestown no matter what time
the teams arrive. The Eastside members have started serving
as early as 10:00 a.m. and as late as 3:00 a.m. The
meal usually consists of hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob,
potato salad, chips, soft drinks and ice cream.
Many thanks to our World Series friends as they continue to provide
this meal ‘out of the goodness of their hearts’. |
